When Should I Replace My Hot Tub?

hot tub installation

After many years and countless amazing hydrotherapy sessions, even your trusty hot tub might need to be replaced one day. You can do a lot to enhance the life and durability of your hot tub. If you follow proper maintenance operations, have a nice and punctual cleaning schedule and do it all by the book, you will certainly be able to greatly prolong the lifespan of your own hot tub. Even in the best possible scenarios, however, your hot tub is bound to wear out some day, perhaps years from now.

How do you know when your hot tub needs to retire after many excellent and proud years of great service? Read on to find out more and learn about when you should think of replacing your hot tub.

Constant Maintenance and Repair

This is a tell-tale sign that something needs to be replaced.

Regardless if it’s a fridge, vehicle, telephone, or piece of clothing, if it needs to be fixed over and over again with hardly any time in between to enjoy it, chances are it’s time for a new one.

If you find that your hot tub constantly requires maintenance and repairs, it might be at the point where it will soon stop responding to proper care. It’s not uncommon for this to happen after so many years of use.

After a decade or more, your old hot tub will require more maintenance and more frequent routine operations than ever before, until at some point it might actually make more practical sense to simply retire your old hot tub and purchase a new one as a replacement. Frequent maintenance can be very costly in the long run, and definitely not practical if you’re spending more time fixing it, rather than enjoying it.

Deteriorating or Damaged Components

Due to weathering and extensive use throughout the years, you might notice that the materials in your hot tub simply look deteriorated, damaged or outright broken in general. For instance, you might be able to identify cracks and discolouration in certain areas in the tank or body, or even rust in certain components.

While some parts can be replaced, and some fixes could definitely be performed, it might actually make a lot more sense to simply move on to a new hot tub. Repairs are costly, and you might as well just invest the money in a new, top-of-the-line hot tub with the latest features. Poor Performance

After many years of excellent service, an old hot tub might start to provide a less than ideal performance. For instance, the thermostat might not work properly, leading you to waste energy, while not offering the same effective performance from the many features. Features which at this point, could be out of date.

Newer Features

If you own a model from over a decade ago, there is a big chance that the technology is far outdated. This industry has made leaps forwards since then, meaning that the performance of newer models is going to be greatly improved, while requiring less energy and new components that are less bulky than their aged counterparts.

Today, even sanitation features are way more effective and practical. For example, the revolutionary CLEARRAY® water purification system really redefined the way hot tub and spa owners go about the clarity and purification of their water.
